Tasks are assigned to classes, groups or individuals and appear in their 'To do' folders when they next log in and children can then develop their skills, such as debugging algorithms or using technology safely and respectively for example, in a safe online environment. Purple Mash allows us to use a range of child centred resources, including, among others, specially designed apps for coding, publishing and email, to complete our projects.

Some of our projects require us to learn to code by creating scripts that tell our characters (sprites) what to do, or we may be asked to design and produce our own webpages or publications using IT; these often link with our Topic work and are an excellent way to share our knowledge with others.

In our lessons, we work independently in our redeveloped computing suite and both self- and peer- assess the effectiveness of our end results. We then make improvements based on our own reflections as well as the reflections of our peers and our teachers.

Online Safety

We take online safety extremely seriously and revisit how the children can keep themselves safe whilst using technology throughout the year in dedicated lessons. We also set aside a whole day a year to this important subject and invite parents and carers to participate in workshops, as well as providing additional lessons and activities for the classes on this day too.
